Position Summary: The Waste Collection Vehicle Operator is tasked with driving a collection truck and delivering efficient waste removal services to our clients. This role requires adherence to the company's safety protocols and compliance with all relevant regulations during vehicle operation.

Compensation:

Hourly wage of $21 - $24

Key Responsibilities:

Essential duties for the Waste Collection Vehicle Operator include:

  • Conducting thorough pre- and post-operation inspections of the vehicle to ensure all safety equipment and controls are functioning correctly, reporting any issues as necessary.
  • Safely navigating the designated route and ensuring timely service to each customer as outlined in the route documentation.
  • Utilizing manual and automatic controls to lift and load refuse, operate compactors, and dispose of collected materials at the appropriate facilities.
  • Engaging courteously with customers and colleagues to guarantee efficient service delivery.
  • Identifying and tagging unsatisfactory waste containers in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Monitoring waste for unacceptable materials and managing accidental spills in compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintaining the vehicle's operational readiness and cleanliness after each disposal trip.
  • Completing required documentation, including route and productivity sheets.
  • Adhering to productivity standards to ensure timely service to all customers.
  • Following all safety policies and procedures diligently.
  • Performing additional job-related tasks as assigned.
  • Exhibiting strong customer service skills to meet and exceed client expectations.
  • Demonstrating effective time management to fulfill responsibilities efficiently.
  • Maintaining a commitment to company policies and safety standards.
  • Taking pride in work and striving to achieve set goals.
Qualifications:
  • Possession of a Class B or higher Commercial Driver's License.
  • Preferred two years of experience operating a commercial vehicle.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment DOT drug screening, physical examination, background check, and clean driving record.
