Position Overview:

The Department of Communication at Santa Clara University is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Adjunct Faculty Member (non-tenure track) within our applicant pool. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about teaching and have expertise in various areas of Communication Studies.

Teaching Responsibilities:

As an Adjunct Faculty Member, you will be responsible for delivering engaging courses that may include topics such as:

  • Communication in Everyday Life
  • Public Speaking
  • Digital Storytelling
  • Introduction to Communication Research
  • Technology and Communication
  • Research Methods (qualitative and quantitative)

Specific course assignments will be determined based on your academic qualifications and the needs of the department. The teaching load is limited to a maximum of two courses per quarter and no more than four courses throughout the academic year.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess the following:

  • A terminal degree (Ph.D./MFA) in Communication or a closely related field is preferred. Candidates who are ABD or hold a Master's degree with substantial teaching experience (5-7 years) in Communication may also be considered.
  • Exceptional professional experience in communication studies and collegiate teaching may qualify candidates without an advanced degree.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.

Compensation:

The salary for this position is set at $8,842 for each 4 or 5 unit course taught.
