Job Title: Collision Repair Tech/Body Shop TechAbout the Role

Chalmers Ford Inc is seeking a skilled and experienced Collision Repair Tech/Body Shop Tech to join our team. As a key member of our collision department, you will be responsible for repairing and restoring vehicles to their original condition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with body shop management to develop and achieve challenging individual goals for production and quality work.
  • Complete repair assignments correctly to pass quality inspections, preparation standards for painting department, and per agreed upon estimate.
  • Collect all necessary information before requesting additional parts.
  • Meet or exceed productivity goals and fix-it-right objectives.
  • Notify manager or shop foreman promptly when undiscovered damage or other delays occur.
  • Promote a productive working relationship with others.
  • Provide clear and legible record of service completed or additional repairs needed for both customer and dealership use.
  • Assist estimators and service advisors as necessary to explain repairs to customers or determine estimates.
  • Assist other technicians when requested.
  • Prioritize work to meet demands and customer needs; plan ahead to complete work in allotted time frames.
  • Make decisions regarding repair options; ask for assistance if necessary.
  • Complete repair orders within specified time frame, foresee delays, and alert appropriate personnel promptly.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning, and repairs on dealership tools and equipment; ensure facility is clean and organized at all times.
  • Perform factory warranty repairs according to established procedures.
  • Follow all hazardous waste and OSHA safety regulations and company policies.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest technical services through training, vendors, etc.
  • Properly dispose of used parts and return unused parts to the counterperson.
  • Use manuals including diagrams as necessary to complete repairs.
  • Use diagnostic procedure to identify the symptoms of problem, the conditions under which they occur, the OASIS symptom codes that are appropriate for the symptoms as well as how often the symptoms occur.
Requirements
  • ICAR certification preferred
  • ASE certification preferred
  • Minimum of two years' experience (four or more preferred) in one or more of the following:
  • Non-structural repair
  • Structural repair
  • Welding and cutting
  • Refinishing
  • Plastic repair
  • Mechanical and electrical repair
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug tests, as well as a background check; hold a current, valid driver's license; and be team-oriented, flexible and focused on maintaining a high level of customer service
