Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to provide support and care to our clients in a safe and healthy environment. As a Direct Support Professional, you will work on an interdisciplinary team to deliver superior quality of service and provide appropriate activities in a home and community setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist clients with basic living skills and daily personal tasks, including showers, dressing, housekeeping, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and financial budgeting.
  • Provide transportation to and from activities and appointments as needed, requiring a valid Arkansas driver's license.
  • Maintain good communication with staff regarding client needs and progress toward their plan of care.
  • Accurately complete all documentation required by FCC, including behavioral reports, incident reports, compliant forms, personal care work sheets, requisitions, maintenance forms, progress reports, and monthly attendance logs.
  • Follow proper medication management guidelines and assist in monitoring and documenting these procedures.
  • Organize and carry out recreational activities for clients.
  • Model good behavior and adhere to FCC's dress code and policies.
  • Treat clients and their families with dignity and respect at all times.
  • Maintain FCC facilities and grounds, ensuring they are clean, orderly, and functioning.
  • Assist with vehicle maintenance and ensure cleanliness and regular preventive maintenance.
  • Attend necessary training and continuing education.
  • Provide proof of liability insurance and keep current.
  • Undergo periodic driving tests and demonstrate proficiency in operating a motor vehicle, including passenger vans.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information received regarding Friendship Community Care, Senior Center Programs, and clients, in compliance with FCC's Non-Disclosure Policy and HIPAA Policies.
Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two+ years experience working with developmentally disabled individuals.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with state minimum liability insurance.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

This is a safety-sensitive function. Must be able to pass background checks/drug screen and maintain a clean driving record along with a valid AR driver's license and reliable transportation with state minimum liability insurance.
