Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead our team of technicians tasked with the installation, repair, and maintenance of heating and air conditioning systems in commercial settings. This essential role requires direct collaboration with service and installation technicians, dispatch teams, and fellow managers to ensure customer satisfaction and meet departmental goals. As a senior representative of the company, the Service Manager will frequently interact with clients, vendors, and suppliers to guarantee effective and timely communication regarding job progress, project updates, and service improvements, reinforcing our dedication to excellence in HVAC service delivery.

Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, onboard, develop, and manage the team of technicians.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and set improvement objectives for technicians.
  • Implement ongoing training and safety initiatives.
  • Supervise and guide technicians in performing equipment repairs, installations, and other essential duties to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Provide technical support to technicians to meet service demands and customer expectations.
  • Review technician work to ensure quality standards and safety regulations are met; suggest improvements to enhance quality and productivity.
  • Facilitate group and individual meetings with technicians for training, evaluation, and communication; conduct regular departmental safety and informational meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and standard operating procedures among all technicians.
  • Maintain regular communication with dispatch to ensure proper scheduling of personnel.
  • Coordinate with estimators to ensure that scopes of work align with customer expectations.
  • Monitor service vehicles to ensure they are well-maintained and stocked with necessary parts and materials.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma with additional education from a college, trade school, or military training (associate or bachelor's degree preferred).
  • HVAC certification (EPA 608).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or management capacity within the HVAC sector.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and specifications.
  • Familiarity with HVAC software and diagnostic tools.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and ensure timely completion.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with strong conflict resolution abilities.
  • Proficient in handling customer escalations professionally.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality customer service and satisfaction.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex HVAC issues effectively.
  • Innovative mindset for enhancing service delivery and efficiency.
  • Thorough understanding of safety protocols and regulations in the HVAC industry.
  • Ability to enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with applicable laws.
  • Experience in training and mentoring HVAC technicians.
  • Capability to develop and implement training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Proficient in using office software (e.g., MS Office Suite).
  • Familiarity with HVAC management software.
  • Physical stamina to perform hands-on work when necessary.
  • Ability to work in diverse environments, including elevated areas.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
