Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our North Dakota team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing proposals for moderate to complex projects, developing and executing whole geotechnical scopes, and reviewing engineering work of others.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare proposals for moderate to complex projects, including geotechnical scopes and engineering work.
  • Develop and execute whole geotechnical scopes, including geotechnical design calculations and sketches.
  • Review engineering work of others, including drawings and technical reports.
  • Perform engineering analysis using company and industry methodologies, including shallow foundation settlement and bearing capacity, deep and intermediate foundation design parameters, grading, stability, paving, geometric design, and other technical work.
  • Make geotechnical recommendations and prepare engineering reports for senior review.
  • Understand and manage client needs through communications and proposal/project work.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Perform routine aspects of civil engineering assignments, including familiarity with company programs, staff, and operating procedures.
  • Coordinate project assignments with other engineers and technicians within the discipline group.
  • Review drawings supplied by vendors, clients, engineers, and architects and recommend necessary changes.
  • Identify complex problems, possible solutions, and take appropriate action to resolve.
  • Capable of efficiently and effectively managing project teams, including engineering and field support personnel.
  • Oversee and train junior level staff, including Braun Intertec technical practices.
  • Compile engineering calculations using standard formulas and computer software.
  • Prepare field reports documenting contractors' work methods, test results, and the interpretation of these tests.
  • Work within established procedures and/or protocols, aware of risks associated with recommendations.
  • Developed understanding of Braun Intertec services and ability to market to clients.
  • Understand and work in compliance with corporate practices, health and safety policies.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Requires BS in civil or geotechnical engineering and 6+ years' experience.
  • Requires PE licensure in North Dakota or ability to obtain with 6 months.
  • Requires creative and innovative thinking in bringing successful resolution to high-impact, complex, and/or cross-department problems.
  • Ability to qualify professional opinions and recommendations of less experienced engineers.
  • Ability to delegate and develop direct reports.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory.
  • Ability to work with concepts such as limits, rings, quadratic and differential equations, and proofs of theorems.
  • Ability to develop and progress multiple positive client relationships.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
Licensing or Certification
  • Valid driver's license and pass MVR as required.
  • PE Certification.
