Position Overview

The Senior Custodial Supervisor plays a vital role in supporting the Custodial Supervisor by onboarding, training, and collaborating with custodial staff to ensure the cleanliness and safety of educational facilities. In the absence of the Supervisor, this position assumes supervisory responsibilities. Reporting directly to the Campus Facilities Manager, the Senior Custodial Supervisor is integral to maintaining a pristine learning environment for students and faculty.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct quality control assessments of cleaning personnel through daily evaluations and immediate corrective feedback.
  2. Ensure housekeeping storage areas are organized and stocked with necessary supplies.
  3. Manage inventory and communicate supply needs to the Campus Facilities Manager.
  4. Perform routine safety inspections to uphold a secure environment for all.
  5. Familiarize oneself with essential building systems, including fire alarms and electrical systems.
  6. Execute general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing restrooms and common areas.
  7. Maintain cleanliness of school grounds, including athletic fields.
  8. Respond promptly to emergency cleaning situations.
  9. Operate and maintain cleaning equipment effectively.
  10. Oversee daily laundry tasks related to cleaning supplies.
  11. Conduct floor maintenance, including stripping, waxing, and carpet cleaning.
  12. Perform minor maintenance tasks as needed.
  13. Assist in the upkeep of campus vehicles.
  14. Facilitate furniture arrangements and assist with meal setups.
  15. Report maintenance and repair needs to the Campus Facilities Manager.
  16. Engage in weekly check-ins with Supervisors regarding supply orders and operational issues.
  17. Participate in meetings and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills, with 3-5 years of custodial experience, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong commitment to maintaining a clean and safe campus.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities with a proactive work ethic.
  • Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Problem-solving skills with a focus on proactive solutions.
  • Strong ethical standards and dedication to operational efficiency.
  • Customer-oriented mindset.
  • Resourceful and budget-conscious.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry weights between 20-50 lbs.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency is preferred.
  • Fluency in English is preferred but not mandatory.
