Job Summary

The Product Development Associate plays a pivotal role in the creation and execution of new footwear products, from initial concept through to production. This position requires a strong understanding of the footwear development process, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Development: Collaborate with designers, developers, and other team members to translate design concepts into prototypes and final products.
  • Material Sourcing: Work closely with the materials team to select appropriate materials and components that meet design specifications, quality standards, and cost targets.
  • Sample Management: Coordinate the development of prototypes and samples, ensuring they meet design intent, fit standards, and functional requirements.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed technical specifications, including construction methods, materials, and measurements, for each product.
  • Vendor Communication: Liaise with factories and suppliers to communicate design and technical specifications, manage timelines, and resolve any development issues.
  • Quality Control: Participate in the evaluation of samples for quality, fit, and function, providing feedback and ensuring that all products meet the brand's high standards.
  • Trend and Market Research: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitive products, and consumer preferences to inform product development decisions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, marketing, merchandising, and production teams to ensure alignment and successful product launches.
  • Cost Analysis: Assist in the analysis of product costs, helping to identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or design intent.
  • Process Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of the product development process, identifying and implementing best practices.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Design, Fashion, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in footwear product development or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of footwear construction, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, CAD software, or other design tools.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of aesthetics and design integrity.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
