Position Overview:
The Lead Registered Nurse plays a pivotal role in overseeing daily operations within the assigned unit, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care to a designated group of patients. This position collaborates closely with the Administrative Coordinator to facilitate effective patient placement and provides direct patient care at an experienced practitioner level when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists the Assistant Nurse Manager in maintaining appropriate staffing levels and skill mix across all shifts by developing and managing staffing schedules that align with departmental needs and fluctuating patient census.
- Supervises the delivery of patient care, directing and assigning tasks to staff based on patient acuity, staff availability, and safety considerations.
- Organizes and prioritizes work effectively, contributing to the performance appraisal process by providing constructive feedback for staff evaluations and holding team members accountable for their performance standards.
- Collaborates with the Nurse Manager and Assistant Nurse Manager to address unit-specific needs, including flow issues, equipment and supply management, documentation practices, patient satisfaction, and performance challenges.
- Proactively addresses and resolves patient and family concerns, ensuring timely communication and support.
- Maintains patient confidentiality through professional communication practices.
- Acts as a resource and mentor for charge nurses and staff, fostering a supportive work environment.
- Delivers direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with specialists as needed, and adjusts nursing care processes to optimize patient outcomes.
- Manages requisitions for supplies and equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and inventory management.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience required, along with supervisory experience.
- Licenses: Must possess a valid Registered Nurse license upon hire, with the option for a Multi-State License. Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certifications are also required upon hire.
- Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and leadership abilities are essential.
