Position Overview:
This role involves undertaking complex engineering tasks related to the design, installation, operation, and upkeep of mechanical systems and equipment. The successful candidate will also evaluate plans and specifications to ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards, while performing additional related responsibilities as necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive studies of proposed projects and advise on the optimal design, type, selection, and placement of mechanical equipment.
- Execute preliminary and final acceptance testing of pumping systems.
- Perform regular assessments to evaluate the operational efficiency of existing pumping systems and suggest necessary improvements.
- Review plans and specifications for mechanical equipment to ensure compliance with applicable codes.
- Supervise data collection related to pumping operations and other relevant metrics.
- Analyze performance reports and operational schedules.
- Coordinate with architects and engineers regarding technical interpretations of codes.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and correspondence.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree from an accredited institution in mechanical engineering, along with three years of professional experience in the field. A valid professional mechanical engineering license in the State of Hawai'i is required at the time of application, along with a valid driver's license.
Knowledge and Skills:
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including engineering mechanics, thermodynamics, and hydraulics. Proficiency in conducting various tests on materials and equipment, as well as familiarity with relevant code requirements, is essential.

Applicants must meet health and physical condition standards necessary to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
