About the Role

At Windfall Bio, we are pioneers in biotech innovation, tackling some of the world's most critical environmental challenges. Our breakthrough solutions focus on capturing and transforming climate-harming methane emissions into beneficial products. Utilizing cutting-edge technology and methane-eating microbes, we convert methane from various sources into valuable outputs, such as organic fertilizers. This nature-based approach provides a sustainable method for industries like agriculture, oil and gas, and waste management to significantly reduce their carbon footprint and environmental impact.

This position will drive the development of Windfall Bio's downstream processing for the packaging of viable bacteria/microbes and fertilizer. This involves supporting custom manufacturers in the operation of scale processes, as well as working at Windfall Bio's lab with its supporting experiments. By collaborating with cross-functional teams and understanding the lab/bench processes, you will design and determine the equipment specs for future processes and plants.

This role is extremely hands-on, and will require knowledge of commercial scale centrifuges, dryers, biologics packaging, along with laboratory practice, experimental design, and data analysis. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and executing experiments for the purpose of live microbial transport
  • Developing a scalable process to ship both fertilizer products and live microbial products
  • Conducting stability and material testing for shelf life, ensuring quality product delivery to clients and end-users
  • Experimental design both in lab and at CMOs, moving from bench scale experimentation to full scale
  • Collaborating with a team of scientists and engineers for the design, implementation, and analysis of experiment results
  • Domestic and international travel is required

Requirements:

  • Master's degree with 4 years of experience in bioengineering, chemical engineering, or other related disciplines
  • Hands-on experience working with commercial scale centrifuges, dryers, and packaging
  • Deep understanding of the design process for the transport of viable microbial cultures, and packaging shelf-stable liquids
  • Knowledgeable on scale-up processes up to 1000L+ bioreactors
  • Ability to complete complex statistical analysis and model building, in programs such as JMP
  • Strong interpersonal communication, analytical, computer, and technical writing skills

The base salary range for this full-time position is $140 - $180k, plus equity and benefits.
