Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Sous Chef to join our team at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT. As a key member of our culinary operations team, you will assist in the direction, training, planning, and execution of the culinary needs of our late night dining hall. This includes supervising, preparing, and cooking various food items, developing daily menu items, and collaborating with the Executive Chef to develop new menus and assist with ordering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Executive Chef and culinary team with managing cost controls and controlling expenditures for the account.
  • Assist the Executive Chef and culinary team with planning and creating menus that meet the needs of our late night dining hall.
  • Produce and execute catering events for various campus functions.
  • Roll out new culinary programs in conjunction with the marketing and culinary teams to enhance the dining experience.
  • Foster strong client relationships to align our programs with their objectives, driving satisfaction and retention.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of dining service operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A.S. or equivalent experience in culinary arts or a related field.
  • Culinary/kitchen management experience, depending upon formal degree or training.
  • High volume, complex foodservice operations experience - highly desirable.
  • Institutional and batch cooking experiences helpful.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • Must be experienced with computers and have a strong understanding of food safety and sanitation protocols.
  • ServSafe Certified.
