Job Summary

The K-8 School Counselor will provide support to students and families for social, emotional, and academic learning needs. This role is ideal for a licensed school counselor who is passionate about creating a positive and inclusive school environment.


A Day in the Life of the K-8 School Counselor
  • Create and co-lead the student support team/MTSS to ensure students receive the support they need.
  • Meet with administration to review referrals and interventions, and drive the implementation of tier 1 programs.
  • Support teachers and offer PD and training as needed, and ensure connection with tier 2/3 interventions.
  • Create singular or multiple cross-grade tier 2 groups to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Maintain awareness of student diagnoses, develop and update plans for tier 3 students, and share with staff as needed.
  • Connect with and support parents as needed, providing referrals to the PSC team.
  • Provide and encourage outside referrals for students as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree from a four-year college or university.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • MN School Counselor or School Social Worker License (Preferred).

Location/Environment

Greater Twin Cities, MN.


Duration and Hours

School year, 7-35 hours per week, Monday - Friday.


Salary Range and Benefits

$38-$48 per hour based on experience & qualifications, plus 401(k) with Employer Match, Paid Time Off, Flex Time, Short Term Disability, and Life Insurance.
