Role Overview:
The Infection Preventionist (IP) is pivotal in overseeing the nursing center's Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP). This role encompasses being a practitioner, resource, consultant, educator, and facilitator for staff across various locations, focusing on:
  • Infection Prevention & Control Activities
  • Outcome & Process Surveillance
  • Outbreak Management
  • Employee Health

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate new hire orientation by delivering infection prevention and control training for newly recruited staff.
  • Design and implement educational programs addressing identified infection control needs through QAPI, rounding, center quality measures, or other assessments.
  • Develop, execute, monitor, and sustain the IPCP to ensure high-quality patient care concerning the investigation, control, and prevention of infections and communicable diseases within the nursing center.

Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing with current registered nurse licensure by the State Board of Nursing; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Completion of specialized training in infection prevention and control within 90 days of hire.
  • A minimum of three years of full-time or equivalent nursing experience is required.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours to accommodate employees on evening and night shifts.
