Senior Life Insurance Underwriter

Position Summary
As a Senior Life Underwriter at Transamerica, you will play a crucial role in the meticulous evaluation of risk for various insurance applications. This position involves regular collaboration with Underwriting, New Business, and distribution teams. You will have the authority to approve cases ranging from $1,500,000 to $2,500,000 across all tables and ages, with the capability to assess risks up to $3,500,000.
Key Responsibilities
- Exhibit proficiency in all tasks and expectations set for Underwriters and Intermediate Underwriters.
- Act as a key influencer within your immediate team and among peer Underwriters.
- Demonstrate initiative in daily responsibilities, contributing proactively to team and departmental success.
- Maintain strong organizational skills, knowing whom to consult for inquiries and understanding your role's impact on team dynamics.
- Exhibit a willingness to challenge established procedures and engage in constructive discussions.
- Continuously seek improvements in processes and volunteer to lead departmental projects.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree or a comparable combination of education and experience.
- At least 4 years of experience in life or health underwriting.
- Proficient in AWD or similar systems, with strong skills in MS Office, risk assessment, and platform usage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a minimum of two LOMA courses, actively pursuing FLMI designation. Completion of AALU Certification while working towards FALU is advantageous.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for engaging with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Capacity to meet high productivity standards for oneself and team members.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently, potentially in a remote environment.

We provide a competitive salary and an extensive benefits package, including a 401(k) plan with no vesting requirements, a fully funded pension plan contributing 5% of your base salary, and many additional perks.
Compensation Overview
The estimated salary for this role typically ranges from $75,000 to $90,000, depending on qualifications and operational needs. This range may vary based on the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule.
Bonus Potential
This position may also qualify for an annual bonus based on company performance and individual contributions, at the discretion of the company.
