Job Summary

The County of Los Angeles is seeking a highly skilled and experienced MRI Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our MRI unit, ensuring that all imaging procedures are performed efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and participate in the work of the MRI unit to ensure that all imaging procedures are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Read orders and schedules patients in accordance with protocol or physician's direction, consulting with referring physicians as required.
  • Provide practical instruction and technical direction to technologists, students, and other healthcare professionals in the procedures and techniques used in MRI examinations.
  • Resolve problems for technologists with respect to selecting optimal imaging coil, positioning patient, and selecting protocol and parameters for each procedure to obtain desired results.
  • Troubleshoot all equipment failures and difficulties and perform appropriate quality assurance procedures, tests, and measures.
  • Check machines and control settings for conformance with State regulations to ensure the safety of patients and healthcare services personnel.
  • Inspect work area and equipment, control inventory, and order needed supplies and maintenance services within specified limits.
  • Coordinate with physicians, support staff, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate operations.
  • Counsel subordinates, prepare performance evaluations, report employee relations problems, and report on work performed by the unit.
  • Enforce safety regulations and compliance with departmental regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • In consultation with physicians, develop new or modify existing MRI protocols to improve quality and meet radiologists' needs.
Requirements
  • Option I - One year of experience as an MRI Technologist II in the County of Los Angeles.
  • Option II - Three years of experience as a registered MRI Technologist at the level of MRI Technologist II.
  • Registration in Magnetic Resonance Imaging by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) and completion of a 12-month or longer course in magnetic imaging technology which included a clinical training component.
  • California Venipuncture Certificate.
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to radiation and other hazardous materials. The position requires standing or walking most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching. The candidate must be able to lift objects weighing over 25 pounds and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.
