About the Role:
The Accelerator Operations Lead plays a pivotal role within the entrepreneurial ecosystem, influencing the success of the AlphaLab suite of accelerator initiatives. This newly established position is dedicated to enhancing the overall experience for founders participating in the program. The role encompasses a customer success dimension across various accelerator programs, including AlphaLab, AlphaLab Gear, AlphaLab Health, and the Robotics Factory Accelerate program, which collectively support the launch of over 20 startups annually. The Accelerator Operations Lead will cultivate relationships within the startup community in Pittsburgh and beyond, leveraging our extensive network and participation in Morrow, a global consortium of accelerator programs.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will possess a background in managing and executing entrepreneurial initiatives that foster startup growth. Active involvement in the startup and business landscape is essential, along with the ability to thrive in a diverse, fast-paced team environment. Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaborative skills are crucial. This role demands strong organizational capabilities, a results-driven mindset, and a commitment to transparent and empathetic communication.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Operations:
- Coordinate and facilitate events, including programming, networking gatherings for founders, mentors, and investors, as well as community engagement activities that support software enterprises.
- Utilize CRM tools (Salesforce) consistently to monitor and enhance value-added services for our clients.
- Oversee a budget focused on customer satisfaction and alumni engagement, encompassing planning, vendor selection, and financial tracking.
Company Engagement:
- Interact with companies throughout the AlphaLab program to guarantee a premier customer experience.
- Apply domain expertise and functional skills to assist companies as needed.
- Continue to support accelerator companies post-program as part of alumni engagement initiatives.
Partner and Network Relationships:
- Assist in building networks (corporate, mentor, alumni/entrepreneur) for Innovation Works by nurturing strategic relationships defined by the accelerator team.
- Represent Innovation Works/AlphaLab at community and partner events through active participation and speaking opportunities.
Application Process and Management:
- Support the AlphaLab application process and collaborate with the Accelerator Team to make informed decisions and finalize contracts with companies.
- Lead the recruitment and selection processes for accelerator applications, including office hours, application reviews, interviews, follow-ups, and support for company selection.
Internal Collaboration:
- Work with the Accelerator Team to establish a foundational customer experience across IW's suite of programs (AlphaLab, AlphaLab Gear, AlphaLab Health, Robotics Factory).
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Marketing, Platform, Investment Team) to ensure cohesive engagement with founders during the accelerator program and communicate available resources.
- Partner with the Platform Manager and Program Managers to deliver integrated offerings for AlphaLab companies based on evolving needs and define a suite of accelerator services that complement the core curriculum.
- Achieve team and individual performance KPIs related to network development, company engagement, and customer satisfaction scores.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with 5-10 years of relevant experience.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and time-sensitive issues for various stakeholders with meticulous attention to detail and quality.
- Capability to execute program operations independently while collaborating with the accelerator team.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Strategic thinking coupled with tactical execution skills.
- Proficiency in productivity tools such as Google Apps, Slack, Calendly, and Salesforce.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a direct, transparent, and empathetic manner.
- Capacity to drive operational decisions and lead projects autonomously, with minimal oversight.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
