Billing and Accounts Receivable Specialist

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Accounts Receivable Supervisor, the Accounts Receivable Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring timely payment collections, processing invoices, and accurately recording revenue in accordance with established accounting standards and internal controls. This position is integral to managing collection efforts, which includes identifying and resolving payment issues promptly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate and distribute monthly invoices to clients.
- Input and create receipts utilizing data from various banking and donation platforms.
- Monitor outstanding accounts, conduct collection calls, and manage disputes on invoices, escalating issues as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Accounts Receivable Supervisor on revenue recognition and allocation while ensuring adherence to internal financial controls.
- Perform account research and financial analysis.
- Engage with governmental and funding entities as required.
- Manage bank deposits and maintain organized filing systems for records.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
- Education: An Associate's Degree or equivalent in accounting or a related discipline, along with a minimum of one year of relevant experience in accounts receivable and general ledger reconciliations. Experience in the non-profit sector is preferred, as is familiarity with ERP accounting software.
- Language Proficiency: Strong command of English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interpret financial documents and respond effectively to inquiries from clients and regulatory bodies.
- Mathematical Skills: Solid financial acumen with the ability to perform calculations involving discounts, proportions, and percentages.
- Analytical Skills: Capability to identify problems, gather data, evaluate information, and propose viable solutions.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in using a ten-key calculator and MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong relationship-building abilities, with a positive and professional demeanor. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Work Environment:
The role may require prolonged periods of sitting or standing, as well as occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. The noise level may vary based on the activity within the organization.
