Position Overview: The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of occupational health and safety within the manufacturing environment. This role is pivotal in fostering a culture of continuous improvement aimed at achieving an injury-free workplace.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold and implement policies, procedures, and programs as dictated by the Group, Business Group, and Division.
  • Act as the Environmental Management Representative (EMR) for the ISO Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Oversee the Return to Work program as part of the Workers Compensation framework.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with legal standards and manage relationships with local government and regulatory bodies.
  • Prepare the site for regulatory inspections, ensuring proper record retention.
  • Monitor and report on EHS performance indicators, including generic injury rates.
  • Collaborate with plant and corporate teams to support engineering in the development of Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Coordinate emergency response strategies and actions.
  • Lead and organize EHS audits to assess compliance and performance.
  • Investigate accidents thoroughly and spearhead preventive measures.
  • Ensure that a safe and healthy work environment is maintained for all employees while promoting environmentally sustainable practices.
  • Advise management on EHS issues and facilitate the implementation of recommendations.
  • Prepare and maintain compliance with legal and company reporting requirements, analyzing relevant data.
  • Address ergonomic concerns within the plant.
  • Disseminate best practices for prevention and protection across all plants within the Division and Business Group.
  • Evaluate site risks and propose solutions to enhance working conditions, industrial safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Adhere to all Company Safety policies, procedures, and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Recent experience in a manufacturing environment is essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety and environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Proven experience managing EHS in a large and complex manufacturing setting.
  • Results-driven approach.
  • Experience with workers' compensation processes is necessary.
