Position Overview
The Sales Tax Specialist I plays a crucial role in ensuring adherence to all facets of the sales tax process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and submit accurate state and local sales/use tax returns independently for basic filings and with guidance for more complex submissions.
  • Generate supporting documentation for both original and amended tax return filings utilizing internal systems with assistance.
  • Handle basic local sales tax registrations autonomously and complex registrations with support.
  • Address fundamental sales tax inquiries from various business units and external clients with limited guidance.
  • Implement ongoing sales tax quality control measures, including report generation and corrections.
  • Identify exempt customers and assist in the reapplication of payments as necessary.
  • Recognize and rectify sales tax coding discrepancies in InfoLease.
  • Comprehend general ledger concepts and perform basic account reconciliations with minimal support.
  • Maintain and update power queries for the Sales Tax Team, assisting in the creation of basic queries as required.
  • Engage professionally with tax authorities to resolve basic sales tax issues.
  • Establish new clients in various sales tax systems and coordinate special requests with leadership.
  • Actively contribute to strategic initiatives for the Sales Tax Team as assigned.
  • Deliver an exceptional experience for both internal and external customers.
Qualifications:

Education:
  • A four-year degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience in accounting or financial record-keeping is required.
Experience:
  • Previous experience in leasing, sales tax, or a related field is beneficial but not mandatory.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with sales tax software is preferred but not essential.
