Regional Environmental Compliance Specialist

The Regional Environmental Compliance Manager will be responsible for maintaining environmental compliance and permit requirements for assigned locations. This role will act as the senior local technical expert with regards to engineering and environmental concepts.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in frequent field site visits, collect data, analyze findings, and interpret results by producing technical reports, tabulating data, and preparing charts, graphs, and sketches in support of facility engineering and compliance projects.
- Collaborate with facility management to maintain local, state, and federal permits for assigned facilities by identifying permitting needs, anticipating permit renewals, preparing, and submitting applications within an appropriate time frame.
- Interact professionally with regulators, customers, and members of the public with regard to facility permits and environmental compliance.
- Coordinate and manage third-party contractors and consultants in the completion of low and medium complexity engineering and construction projects.
- Identify and correct compliance issues by working with facility managers to coordinate process improvements and follow-up self-inspections.
- Evaluate the significance of hazards and determine proper disposal and management methods for facility operations.
- Collaborate with facility and regional management to obtain and report collected data in support of company and facility goals relating to safety, compliance, financial performance, and sustainability.
- Oversee ongoing compliance of environmental programs by coordinating required environmental training and performing self-inspections to ensure complete and successful monitoring and environmental sampling by internal and external resources.
- Assist with the development and implementation of new or revised environmental resource programs, policies, procedures, methods of operation, and provide recommendations for enhancements to ensure effective systems and services are in place.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 8-10 years of work experience in solid waste or related environmental industry.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel among company regional offices throughout the Northeast.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, sustainability, and environmental compliance.
- Strong understanding of environmental laws and regulations.
- High attention to detail, organizational, listening, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
