Job Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant, Hospice is a vital member of the interdisciplinary team working under the supervision of a registered nurse to provide personalized care and support to patients in need. This role involves observing patients, reporting and documenting observations, and delivering care according to a written plan of care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide personal care and support services to patients, including bathing, oral care, hair care, shaving, and skin care, while maintaining patient privacy.
  • Meet the safety needs of patients and use equipment properly, including cleaning spills, monitoring equipment function, and reporting any dysfunction immediately.
  • Carry out basic infection control procedures, including proper hand washing techniques, cleaning patient supplies and equipment, and using special precautions in care of patients with infectious diseases.
  • Accept delegation from Clinical Supervisor and/or RN, Case Manager, and use communication tools effectively, including phones and computers.
  • Assume responsibility for job development, including maintaining up-to-date licensures, attending required education programs, and participating in continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Provide homemaking and supportive assistance when needed.
Requirements:
  • CNA certification from the Maryland Board of Nursing
  • Current CPR certification
  • 1 year of experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Valid driver's license with a vehicle in good working order that is insured in accordance with state and organizational requirements
