POSITION SUMMARY:

The Cook is responsible for ensuring the quality and timely preparation of food for guests. This role encompasses a variety of essential functions as defined by management, which may be adjusted as necessary. Duties may be reassigned at any time to meet operational needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the inventory of raw ingredients in both hot and cold stations, ensuring all menu items are prepared to standard.
  • Prepare menu items across all meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and banquet services.
  • Receive and properly store food deliveries in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Work scheduled shifts across various kitchen locations, including main dining and banquet facilities.
  • Maintain cleanliness and compliance of walk-in coolers and freezers in line with health regulations.
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance of storage areas as required, particularly at the end of shifts.
  • Assist in the absence of the chef, sous chef, or kitchen manager.
  • Participate in the preparation of banquet events, including weddings and special functions.
  • May be assigned to prepare room service orders as needed.
  • Prepare food requisitions for the main station and communicate daily needs to the Chef.
  • Contact suppliers to order necessary items to prevent stock shortages.
  • Ensure uniform is maintained in good condition.
  • Wear appropriate headgear while working in kitchen areas.
  • Care for kitchen utensils and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper storage.
  • Adhere to personal hygiene standards as set by company policy.
  • Attend scheduled training sessions and meetings.
  • Respond promptly to guest complaints and take corrective actions as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are required:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with six months to one year of relevant experience or training, or a combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret technical documents, financial reports, and legal materials. Must be able to respond to guest inquiries and communicate service offerings effectively.

MATH SKILLS:

Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to identify problems, gather data, and establish facts.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires regular use of hands for handling and talking, with occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds daily and 25 pounds weekly. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
