Job Summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Director to lead its Integrated Center for Cellular Therapy (ICCT). As a key member of the ICCT leadership team, the Clinical Director will be responsible for establishing the center's clinical delivery goals and achieving financial and operational performance targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a multi-year strategic plan for the ICCT, in collaboration with the MUSC Office of Strategy and External Affairs.
  • Lead the ICCT leadership team in achieving clinical delivery goals, financial targets, and operational performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with local, divisional, system, and organizational resources to achieve business goals.
  • Monitor throughput, systems, and resource needs required for a robust cellular therapy discovery and delivery infrastructure.
  • Ensure execution of MUSC policies and procedures, and maintain all regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Accountable for specific initiative implementation and associated project sponsorship/management.
  • Continuously review efforts and make necessary changes to improve care variation, ensuring performance is in line with benchmarks.
  • Oversee the ICCT Advisory Board, composed of Department Chairs, Division Chiefs, associated research leaders, and other key MUSC stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Board Certified Medical degree (MD, DO) required; additional graduate degree (master's degree in hospital administration, healthcare administration, business administration, public health or a related graduate level degree) is preferred.
  • A minimum of seven years managerial experience in a leadership role is required.
  • Substantial experience in a complex academic medical center environment is required; experience relevant to the center is desirable.
  • Physician leader with dynamic business skillset and a demonstrated ability to lead a diverse team through influence and example.
  • Must be highly respected as a strategic and operational leader with a proven ability to manage and grow an integrated business unit within a highly matrixed organization.
