Job Responsibilities

As the Manager of Coding HIM, you will report directly to the Director of Coding/CDI/UR and oversee the daily operations of coding for both acute services within CoxHealth. This role encompasses:

  • Managing outpatient coding for all hospitals and clinics.
  • Collaborating closely with coding supervisors and serving as a primary contact for inquiries from various departments.
  • Building and maintaining relationships while facilitating processes and addressing questions from physicians and other supported areas.
  • Working in partnership with the Coding Director to support departmental strategy, mentorship, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications

Education:
Preferred: Bachelor's Degree or 8 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in Coding/HIM or a related field.

Skills:
Candidates must demonstrate:

  • Effective collaboration with staff, the public, and external organizations.
  • Proficiency in Medical Terminology, CPT/HCPCS coding, ICD, Medicare guidelines, and claims processing.
  • Strong initiative, sound judgment, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Problem-solving, critical thinking, conflict management, negotiation, and personal development skills.

Licensure/Certification:
Required: CPC, RHIT, CCS, COC, or CIC (to be obtained within 3 months of hire).

Preferred: CPPM or RHIA.
