COMPANY MISSION: We are on the lookout for a skilled and experienced Custom Fabrication Shop Supervisor to join our dynamic team at Austin Canvas & Awning. REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience in managing a custom fabrication shop.
  • Background in production, manufacturing, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with production tools and machinery.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to oversee schedules and tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to work in a warehouse setting.
  • Knowledge of welding techniques, including TIG and MIG, particularly with stainless steel and aluminum.
  • Excellent communication abilities, self-motivation, and time management skills.
  • Capability to read and interpret fabrication drawings.
  • Ability to collaborate with the Operations Manager.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace while managing physical demands.
  • Valid and clean driving record is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and lead a shop production team.
  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks on light gauge aluminum.
  • Coordinate and supervise the activities of production and operational teams.
  • Manufacture and assemble finished metal products.
  • Install and repair various equipment and components as needed.
  • Follow blueprints to ensure product specifications are met.
  • Conduct quality tests to assess welding integrity and tolerances.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Ability to lift and handle materials and equipment weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Maintain high standards of quality control with a focus on safety.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • WABO Certification preferred: SMAW-FCAW.
