Are you a seasoned professional in sheet metal roofing with a passion for leadership and technical expertise? Look no further GSM Services is seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Superintendent to join our dynamic team. As the Sheet Metal Superintendent, you will play a pivotal role in leading our crew members, ensuring safety compliance, and delivering top-quality roofing solutions to our valued clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Supervision: Lead and supervise sheet metal roofing projects, providing guidance, direction, and mentorship to crew members. Set expectations, motivate team members, and foster a culture of excellence and teamwork.

  • Project Coordination: Coordinate project activities, including setting up project sites, establishing daily production projections, and liaising with Project Managers/Superintendent to align goals and objectives.

  • Safety Compliance: Identify and correct safety-related issues, ensuring all crew members adhere to GSM standards and OSHA requirements. Conduct regular safety inspections, provide safety training, and enforce safety protocols on job sites.

  • Client Engagement: Collaborate with General Contractors (GCs)/Clients, representing GSM Services with professionalism and expertise. Participate in subcontractor meetings and client meetings, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project requirements.

  • Quality Assurance: Oversee the installation of metal components into functional roofing systems, ensuring adherence to manufacturer specifications and quality standards. Conduct regular inspections, address any issues promptly, and maintain the overall quality of workmanship.

  • Training and Development: Mentor and train crew members on roofing techniques, procedures, and safety protocols. Conduct morning toolbox talks, provide ongoing feedback, and facilitate skill development to enhance team capabilities.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Complete all job book reports accurately and timely, including two-week look-ahead, daily reports, and daily huddles. Submit reports weekly by Friday, ensuring clear documentation of project progress and requirements.

  • Continuous Improvement: Demonstrate a commitment to learning and development, seeking opportunities to enhance leadership and roofing skills through company-provided training and self-improvement initiatives.

Requirements/Skills:

  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, with strong communication, coaching, and decision-making skills. Prior experience in a leadership role preferred.

  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of sheet metal roofing installation techniques, materials, and equipment. Proficiency in reading blueprints, troubleshooting diagrams, and conducting quality inspections.

  • Safety Focus: Commitment to safety excellence, with a thorough understanding of OSHA regulations, safety protocols, and risk mitigation strategies. Certified in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Aerial Work Platforms (AWP) preferred.

  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Customer Focus: Dedicated to delivering exceptional service and exceeding customer expectations. Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and customer service orientation.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges.

  • Physical Requirements: Physically able to lift 80 lbs., maneuver heavy equipment, and work at heights. Comfortable working in outdoor environments and able to withstand hot, strenuous, and dirty work conditions.
