**Job Summary:**

The City of Bridgeport, CT - Government is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Crisis Intervention Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our crisis intervention team, you will work closely with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental and emotional health.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Assist residents in dealing with concerns associated with substance misuse/abuse, homelessness, and disorders associated with mental illness.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Services to prioritize high-risk residents and communicate time-sensitive information.
  • Provide direct mental health assessments and treatment plans for complex cases.
  • Develop individual field work instruction considering cultural, social, economic, medical, and environmental factors.

**Requirements:**

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or psychology required; Master's degree preferred.
  • One year of experience as a mental health provider.
  • Considerable knowledge of human behavior theories, diagnostic categories of mental illness, and family dynamics.
  • Strong communication and administrative skills.

**Work Environment:**

This position is located at the Bridgeport Police Department, where you will work in conjunction with a police shift supervisor and CIT officer. The working hours are Tuesday-Saturday, C Shift: 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
