The Ellensburg School District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team as a School Nurse. This is a 6.5 hour per day position that requires a strong commitment to providing exceptional health services to our students.
Key Responsibilities- Provide professional nursing services, including assessments, health care plans, referrals, and follow-ups, in accordance with district policy and professional standards.
- Assess students referred for illness or injury and provide first aid, initiating follow-up care as needed.
- Facilitate the Learn to Return Testing Program, organizing and conducting testing services for students, athletes, and staff, and completing data reporting to the state.
- Administer mandated screenings, such as vision, dental, and hearing tests, and make referrals as needed.
- Maintain effective communication with administrators, teachers, and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action to meet the health and safety needs of students.
- Order supplies and materials as needed to ensure the efficient functioning of the work unit.
- Dispense medications and train other school employees to dispense medications in accordance with established state laws and district procedures.
- Provide health information and counseling for students, parents, and staff.
- Implement a communicable disease prevention and control program in cooperation with local and state public health agencies.
- Manage school health records in accordance with district policy and procedure, and assist in the preparation and submission of reports for the superintendent and state agencies as needed.
- Provide health-related classroom instruction as needed.
- Initiate contacts with and act as a liaison between the home, school, community health agencies, and the private medical sector to enhance the health and wellness of the school community.
- Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team in the identification, evaluation, and placement of students into special education programs, and write the health component of the Individual Education Plan as needed.
- Utilize continuing education opportunities to enhance professional knowledge in both nursing and education fields.
- Participate as an active member of the school community, promoting health and wellness.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all school and health-related issues.
- Qualified to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington and hold an unrestricted license.
- Applications from LPNs with experience will be considered.
- Community Health or School Nurse experience preferred.
- Current First Aid/CPR Card.
- Must qualify to work in the proximity of children under the conditions of a WSP/FBI background check.
