Status: Level IV, Assistant, Reporting to: Store Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • GENERAL MANAGEMENT
    • Assist in creating weekly staff schedules that meet store requirements within the labor budget.
    • Ensure store security and promptly communicate any facility emergencies.
    • Report any issues encountered during shifts to the Store Manager, including customer complaints and staff performance concerns.
    • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the distinctions between cooperatives and other business models.
    • Oversee the receipt of orders in accordance with established protocols, ensuring timely coding and submission of invoices.
    • Ensure inventory levels are appropriate and accurate.
    • Possess knowledge of the POS system.
  • MERCHANDISING
    • Guarantee that shelves are adequately stocked and products are rotated to maintain freshness.
    • Ensure displays and shelves are clean and organized.
    • Verify that all products are accurately labeled with descriptions and prices, including correct sales signage.
  • CUSTOMER SERVICE
    • Provide ongoing training for staff regarding front-end systems, customer service, and GreenStar product lines.
    • Demonstrate the ability to train staff in security protocols.
    • Ensure the accuracy and security of all cash transactions.
    • Deliver friendly customer service consistently.
    • Assist customers with product inquiries in a prompt and courteous manner, referring them to other staff when necessary.
    • Offer suggestions for purchases and preparation methods.
    • Assist customers in placing special orders.
  • DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE
    • Ensure that retail and storage areas are clean and orderly, adhering to health department standards.
    • Assist in preparing for and ensuring accuracy during inventory counts.
    • Maintain all store equipment and notify the Store Manager of any required repairs, ensuring unsafe equipment is taken out of service.
  • SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Adhere to GreenStar safety regulations.
    • Assist colleagues with safety needs.
    • Address unsafe equipment and conditions, communicating with the Store Manager or Facilities as necessary.
    • Support safety training initiatives.
    • Participate in safety training programs.
    • Perform additional tasks as assigned to promote a safe and healthy work environment.
  • STAFF RELATIONS
    • Foster positive working relationships with fellow staff members.
    • Adhere to store-wide policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and by the Management Team.
    • Ensure clear, direct, and respectful communication with colleagues.
    • Treat staff and management with consistency and fairness, in a manner suitable for a cooperative work environment.
  • SUPERVISORY
    • Possess knowledge of and the ability to fill in for all staffing positions and perform daily tasks related to those roles.
    • Document and update procedures, systems, and checklists.
    • Assist in maintaining procedure manuals for all positions.
    • Provide ongoing feedback to the Store Manager regarding staff performance.
    • Ensure compliance of all retail department personnel with established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
    • Exhibit supportive and participatory leadership qualities, promoting team building and motivating staff to achieve departmental objectives.
    • Participate in preparing agendas for regular departmental meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to project a friendly and outgoing personality.
  • Effective communication skills, including active listening and the ability to provide clear instructions.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple demands while maintaining composure; high tolerance for stress.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and de-escalate situations effectively.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Experience with cash registers, retail operating systems, and computer software is advantageous.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Salary:
$19.34 per hour
