Position Overview:
The Veterans Home at Holyoke is in search of a dedicated and skilled nursing supervisor to fulfill the role of Veteran Care Coordinator.
Role Responsibilities:
This position is integral to the nursing administration team, overseeing the daily operations of a designated Care Center within our long-term care facility.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time role (40 hours/week) with hours from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, including occasional weekend shifts. Please note that this facility operates 24/7, and attendance during nontraditional hours may be required based on operational needs.
Key Duties:
- Manage the daily operational requirements of the Veteran Care Center.
- Ensure the continuous provision of high-quality nursing care.
- Strategically plan staff utilization for effective nursing care delivery around the clock.
- Hold nursing staff accountable for their clinical practices, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Foster effective communication and conflict resolution to build trust within the team.
- Implement innovative nursing practices aimed at enhancing Veteran care.
- Participate in the recruitment, selection, mentoring, and evaluation of nursing staff.
- Maintain compliance with clinical operations and regulatory standards.
- Cultivate a collaborative team environment and develop nursing policies.
- Stay informed about the needs of the veteran residents and maintain expertise in geriatric nursing.
Personnel Management:
- Engage in the interview process for new hires and assist in their orientation.
- Promote teamwork and monitor staff adherence to standards.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and identify growth opportunities for staff.
- Document and manage disciplinary actions as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a current, active Registered Nurse certification from the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
- Current CPR/BLS certification is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in long-term care settings with supervisory responsibilities.
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing.
- Certification in Geriatric Nursing or related fields.
- Familiarity with unionized environments and proven leadership capabilities.
