Job Summary

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Practitioner II to provide high-quality patient care in our obstetric-gynecologic department. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with our healthcare team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Provide inpatient management through inpatient consults, triage, postpartum rounds, inpatient procedures, and IUD placement.
  • Obtain a complete health, psychosocial, obstetric, and gynecologic history and record findings in a systematic, accurate, and succinct form.
  • Perform a complete physical examination, with specific emphasis on the reproductive system.
  • Order, perform, and interpret routine laboratory tests.
  • Develop and implement plans for health promotion and health maintenance, including plans for disease prevention and provision of health education and counseling.
  • Provide periodic health assessment of normal, non-pregnant, and asymptomatic women.
  • Provide clinical management of women having gynecologic problems.
  • Provide assessment, education, and management for family planning and fertility control.
  • Provide prenatal care for women with pregnancies, giving attention to both maternal and fetal health.
  • Provide postpartum care, including attention to parent and infant relationships, for women who have had pregnancies.
  • Provide health education and counseling, with emphasis on physical and psychosocial dimensions of adolescence, sexuality, childbearing, parenting, climacteric, aging, and family life.
  • Co-manage care for patients with selected health complications in collaboration with the physician.
  • Arrange referrals to other members of the healthcare team as needed and to community resources as appropriate.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Master of Science in Nursing with a nurse practitioner focus, be a licensed RN by the Virginia Board of Nursing, and a certified nurse practitioner. Three years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner is preferred, with inpatient obstetrical experience also preferred.
