Avionics Technician Job Description

At ALOFT AeroArchitects, we're seeking a skilled Avionics Technician to join our team of experts in aircraft maintenance, modification, and completion. As an Avionics Technician, you'll be responsible for completing all avionics-related tasks with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accomplish aircraft-related activities, including installation, maintenance, testing, inspection, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform operational checks leading to the final return-to-service and conformity of the interior installation, modification, or maintenance accomplished.
  • Accomplish tasks using work methods and procedures, strictly in accordance with engineering drawings, manufacturer's specifications, Company Process Standards, and Airplane Maintenance Manuals.
  • Read, interpret, and follow Wiring Schematics, Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, and drawings for modifications.
  • Utilize various testing devices, meters, and electricians' tools to inspect, test, adjust, and repair wiring, components, and instrumentation in various aircraft systems, including AFS, communications, navigation, flight controls, etc.
  • Document all aircraft-related actions in accordance with the Repair Station Manual, Quality System Manual, and appropriate regulatory guidance. Ensure all paperwork requirements are kept current with job progress.
  • Interface with opposite shift regarding daily requirements; produce complete and accurate shift turnover logs.
  • Report any unserviceable tooling, machinery, or equipment required for efficient production.
  • Prepare and submit all required documentation to Quality Control during completion of projects.
  • Inspect for, and report all non-airworthy aircraft, components, or articles.
  • Interact with other departments to achieve production goals, including timeliness and budgets, while maximizing efforts to meet customer requirements.
  • Plan for and requisition parts and materials, including long-lead time items.
  • Promptly report any problems associated with carrying out work assignments, including non-availability of parts, materials, improper workflow, drawing discrepancies, etc.
  • Maintain and record accurate time accounting records in CIMA.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment in accordance with company standards.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Complete initial/recurring training requirements in a timely manner.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements:
  • High School Education or equivalent reading, writing, and math abilities.
  • 5+ years of airplane avionics experience or combination of training/education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical/electronic systems, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Solid understanding in the use of Precision measuring tools as well as basic tools.
  • Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office software and other company and discipline-specific software applications.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and plan work.
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours or second shift, when needed.
Language Skills:
  • Read, write, and understand the English language.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret complex regulatory documents, technical documents, engineering drawings, regulations, procedures, and manuals.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Airframe and/or Powerplant license preferred.
