Environmental Engineer Co-op Opportunity at Toyo Tires

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Science or Engineering Co-op Student to join our Environmental Health and Safety (EHSS) department at Toyo Tires North America Manufacturing, Inc.

About the Role

This co-op position will provide a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in environmental engineering and science, working on various projects and initiatives to support our sustainability goals and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development of sustainability initiatives, including cost reduction programs for all compliance systems.
  • Assist with the implementation of Toyo Tire's Stormwater and Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure (SPCC) plans.
  • Conduct stormwater and SPCC inspections, and assist with the implementation of ISO 14001 standard.
  • Assist in the automation of data collection processes for air quality monitoring, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) annual reporting, Tier II annual reporting, and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) approval process.
  • Assist with the renewal or modification of all permit requirements, including air permit and wastewater permits.
  • Support project research and preliminary design calculations and analysis for sustainability initiatives.
  • Assist with the preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates for sustainability initiatives.
Requirements
  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Environmental Science or Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geologic Engineering, or related Undergraduate program.
  • Competencies include initiative, dependability, commitment, and accountability, which require minimum supervision and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Personal protective equipment provided or required.
  • Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
