Position Overview
This role serves as a vital link between the Gardens and the community, ensuring that the Facility Custodial team effectively fulfills their responsibilities under the guidance of the Custodial Supervisor. The position entails overseeing task execution, conducting quality assessments, and mentoring staff to uphold high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the Gardens.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations to guarantee the efficient and timely execution of custodial tasks.
- Act as a role model for staff, demonstrating exemplary work ethics and best practices.
- Compile daily reports detailing accomplishments and challenges.
- Utilize pressure washing equipment to maintain the cleanliness of exterior surfaces.
- Identify and report safety hazards promptly, adhering to established protocols.
- Ensure daily litter collection across external grounds.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on custodial and event-related activities.
- Demonstrate proficiency in floor care techniques and equipment.
- Participate in recycling initiatives, ensuring proper disposal of materials.
- Maintain cleanliness in public and office spaces, including waste disposal, dusting, and vacuuming.
- Assist with snow removal as required.
- Support custodial staff during event setups and other necessary tasks.
- Exhibit a positive and solution-focused attitude when interacting with visitors and staff.
- Attend all required on-site meetings.
- Regular attendance is expected; remote work eligibility is contingent on performance.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills are essential.
- Familiarity with cleaning machinery, including floor scrubbers and snow removal tools, is preferred.
- Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
- Flexibility to adapt plans as needed throughout the workday.
- Willingness to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Availability for overtime as required.
- Commitment to representing Denver Botanic Gardens positively at all times.
- Collaborative spirit and respect for colleagues and the public.
- Dedication to maintaining a safe working environment.
- A high school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience, is required.
- A minimum of one year in janitorial or light maintenance roles is necessary.
- Experience working effectively within a team is essential.
