Human Resources Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Human Resources Coordinator to join our team at the City of Melbourne. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of advanced clerical tasks that require considerable independent judgment and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepares employee action notices for hiring and processes employee movement within and removal from the HRIS system.
- Ensures appropriate signatures are obtained and all actions are in compliance with policy and the collective bargaining agreement.
- Processes pay increases in conjunction with the Payroll Division.
- Maintains pay and classification plans to reflect adjustments to pay plans, pay grades, and approved position changes.
- Notifies key City staff of employee separations.
- Completes bi-weekly payroll computer entry and updates the HRIS system with new-hire and termination information prior to forwarding to payroll for processing.
- Completes monthly activity reports for the City Manager's office with new-hire and termination information.
- Maintains promotion/transfer/demotion logs to track employee probationary and special performance evaluation notices.
- Distributes annual and probationary evaluation notices to departments.
- Administers the Employee Self-Service (ESS) function of the HRIS system.
- Prepares the HR Department annual Budget.
- Completes unemployment compensation requests and quarterly check requests.
- Assists with preparing salary analysis.
- Associate's Degree or equivalent experience.
- Four years of experience in a Human Resources or Finance Department payroll function.
- Experience with compensation analysis, including salary survey benchmarking.
- Experience with Payroll and HRIS software.
- County or municipal experience preferred.
The estimated salary for this position is $25.19 per hour, based on the location and industry standards. The total annual salary would be approximately $52,247.
