Job Title: Youth Advocate

Job Summary:

Ruby's Place is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Advocate to join our team. As a Youth Advocate, you will provide essential support and services to self-identified young women who have experienced sex/labor trafficking, domestic violence, or are at risk of such abuse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor the facility during day, evening, and/or overnight shifts to ensure a safe and supportive environment for residents.
  • Provide emotional support and practice active listening with residents to foster a sense of trust and well-being.
  • Perform telephone screening for potential clients to assess their needs and provide guidance on available services.
  • Assist with basic maintenance and cleaning tasks, including chore supervision, stocking, and general supply inventory.
  • Support Case Management staff in providing confidential, holistic, client-centered, trauma-informed services to residents.
  • Orient new residents to the facility and provide them with essential information and resources.
  • Provide backup in-person or phone shift coverage to other Shelter Programs as needed.
  • Assist with general program operations, including data entry, filing, and clerical duties.
  • Actively participate in reflective supervision to ensure continuous improvement and growth in your role.
  • Create and maintain documentation of processes and procedures related to your duties.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Two years of full-time experience working with the population to be served or equivalent education or experience as determined by CDSS.
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
  • Valid CA driver's license, proof of insurance, and approval by Ruby's Place insurance as a driver.
  • Able to complete a background check, fingerprinting (Live Scan), and completion of all Community Care Licensing requirement documents.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in child welfare and/or case management, crisis intervention, peer counseling.
  • Experience working with survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence.
  • Experience working with the immigrant community.
  • Understanding of the dynamics of trauma-sensitive care and sensitivity to serving diverse populations and languages.
