Job Title: Youth Advocate

At Ruby's Place, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Advocate to join our team. As a Youth Advocate, you will play a vital role in providing support and assistance to self-identified young women who have experienced sex/labor trafficking, domestic violence, or are at risk of such abuse.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the facility during day, evening, and/or overnight shifts to ensure a safe and supportive environment for residents.
  • Provide emotional support and active listening to residents, helping them to feel heard and understood.
  • Perform telephone screening for potential clients to assess their needs and provide guidance on our services.
  • Assist with basic maintenance and cleaning tasks, including cleaning, chore supervision, stocking, and general supply inventory.
  • Support Case Management staff with data entry, filing, and other clerical duties.
  • Provide confidential, holistic, client-centered, trauma-informed services to residents.
  • Orient new residents to the facility and provide them with essential information about our services and policies.
  • Provide backup in-person or phone shift coverage to other Shelter Programs as needed.
  • Assist with general program operations and complete tasks as assigned by your supervisor.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree or equivalent experience working with the population to be served.
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
  • Valid CA driver's license, proof of insurance, and approval by Ruby's Place insurance as a driver in order to drive agency vehicles.
  • Able to complete a background check, fingerprinting (Live Scan), and completion of all Community Care Licensing requirement documents.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in child welfare and/or case management, crisis intervention, peer counseling.
  • Experience working with survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence.
  • Experience working with the immigrant community.
  • Understanding of the dynamics of trauma-sensitive care and sensitivity to serving diverse populations and languages.

Ruby's Place offers a competitive salary of $29.87/hr, benefits that include medical, dental, and vision plans, a life insurance policy, significant vacation, sick time, sabbatical, and immediate vesting in our 403(b) with a generous match. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, hourly position. Applicants must be located in the greater Bay Area.
