- Reviews work orders for thoroughness and accuracy before customer billing.
- Ensures all service warranty and product improvement initiatives are completed and submitted to the Centralized Warranty Administrator promptly for maximum credit.
- Verifies that all departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles are maintained in optimal condition.
- Actively seeks and participates in available company-sponsored training to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Maintains a positive and professional rapport with peers, management, and support resources, demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and outstanding customer service.
- Ensures that the company's reputation and image in the community align with the company's Core Values.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in Service Department operations.
- Proficient in standard desktop applications such as Microsoft Office and internet-based functions.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead a team and hold individuals accountable.
- Familiarity with John Deere and competitive products.
- Basic understanding of financial principles related to Service Department operations.
- Capability to analyze and interpret internal reports.
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
- Physical Requirements: Service Writers frequently conduct inspections on machinery, necessitating physical activity daily. They must be able to maneuver around and under machines for inspections and may need to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. There may be occasions where service writers must visit agricultural or construction sites with uneven terrain.
As a Service Writer, frequent visits to the service and repair shop are required to perform various tasks. The shop environment may present hazardous conditions, including exposure to dirt, grease, fumes, cuts, bruises, strains, and loud noises. To mitigate these risks, Service Writers must adhere to strict safety protocols, utilize proper equipment safety measures, and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in hazardous areas.

$20.00 – $27.00 hourly with bonus potential
