Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and deliver program-specific clinical education programs to ensure staff has current knowledge and competencies to meet program contractual and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with Education staff across the enterprise to develop an annual training calendar that ensures a coordinated approach to ongoing programs.
  • Ensure clinical education programs align with the CMS Triple Aim framework: improving the patient's experience of care, improving the health of populations, and reducing the per capita cost of healthcare.
  • Develop and implement education programs that address patient-centered needs, identify and communicate protocols and standards of care for a culturally and demographically diverse patient population.
  • Manage the implementation of clinical staff development programs, including orientation, in-services, training, and other learning activities.
  • Ensure all clinical education programs meet the strategic objectives of specific programs and are in accordance with standards of nursing and social work practice, state and federal regulations, and HealthEcareers - Client policies and procedures.
  • Review program-specific educational program outcomes and program evaluations to determine areas for improvement and make recommendations for change and/or new programs for clinical education as appropriate.
  • Train and/or oversee training of new and current staff in HealthEcareers - Client philosophy, policy, standards, procedures, documentation, models for service delivery, and efficient, productive, cost-effective work processes.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of newly hired staff and staff referred on for remedial or additional training, counsel, discipline, terminate, or extend probation as necessary.
  • Design new and modify existing educational curriculum and training materials to ensure staff has current knowledge and competencies to meet program contractual and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct educational needs assessments in collaboration with operations staff to identify learning needs among staff, analyze and utilize assessment data to plan for program educational sessions, and develop education programs such as workshops and/or group learning activities.
  • Identify performance issues and develop performance improvement plans for tenured employees in collaboration with program management, evaluate competency and performance in conjunction with program management, and review and evaluate clinical orientation and ongoing educational program outcomes to determine areas for improvement and recommend changes to current orientation program as appropriate.
  • Communicate ongoing e-learning opportunities, evaluate e-learning usage and effectiveness, and identify opportunities for distance learning.
  • Analyze course evaluations to evaluate the effectiveness of training sessions and implement improvements.
  • Participate in the development of annual clinical education strategic goals and objectives, utilize resources and practices sound fiscal responsibility, provide input for the development of the department budget, monitor expenditures, and ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborate with the Quality department in the development of and implementation of education-related training programs, ensure program content is presented in a manner that promotes learning and enables trainees to meet competency requirements, and demonstrate services excellence.
  • Perform other supervisory-related duties and projects as assigned, participate in special projects, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Current license and registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent work experience required.
  • Master's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Minimum four years' experience in a community-based or long-term home health setting, including at least two years with a primary focus on education and training required.
