Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Radiology Assistant to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Radiology Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our radiology department, providing exceptional patient care, and maintaining accurate medical records.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform electronic file room duties to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and provide excellent customer service to patients and physicians.
• Answer telephone calls pleasantly to accept requests for films, reports, and CDs, and fax reports promptly to referring physician offices as requested.
• Assist the Women's Center in obtaining mammogram records from other institutions, collecting mailed CDs, and delivering to Mammography or loading data to the system.
• Make copies of CDs as requested by both external and internal customers, including ED, OB, Surgery, and Radiology, and deliver to the proper destination in the hospital while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Refer CD issues to the IS department for quick resolution and collect and respond to legal subpoenas requesting patient records.
• Create a system to track records and work with Risk Management to sequester patient records, collect fees for legal work, and distribute to the finance department for deposit.

Requirements:

• High school graduate with 1 year of related experience, preferably with 1-2 years of phlebotomy experience and/or trained to start IVs.
• Basic knowledge of filing and data entry, with typing skills of 20 wpm preferred.
• Good interpersonal skills, knowledge of telephone and paging functions, and a working knowledge of computer systems utilized on the unit.
• CPR certification within 30 days of hire.

Working Conditions:

• Ability to lift and move patients, work under time constraints in a fast-paced environment, and work rotating shifts any day of the week.
• May be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases, and may be required to have direct patient care in the form of transporting patients.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance and use patient handling equipment when necessary.
