Radiology Technologist Job Description

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team in Libertyville, Illinois.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Radiology Technologist to operate x-ray equipment, produce high-quality radiographs, and provide exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate x-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated body parts as ordered by physicians
  • Accountable for the performance and documentation of diagnostic procedures, adhering to proper technical parameters
  • Knowledgeable in the safe use and operation of radiography, portable, and fluoro equipment
  • Proficient in general diagnostic procedures, including general fluoroscopy procedures if applicable
  • Adhere to infection prevention, isolation, and sterile techniques in patient handling and delivery of care
  • Utilize proper patient identification and obtain and record pertinent patient history
  • Explain procedures to patients, ensuring understanding and comfort during exams
  • Review radiographs to ensure optimum quality and report environmental/equipment problems to appropriate personnel
  • Perform required computer functions for RIS/HIS systems and label radiographs appropriately
  • Consistently maintain a professional attitude, teamwork, and collaboration with co-workers, physicians, and internal customers/departments
  • Provide positive interactions and a customer-first approach with patients and their families/caregivers and visitors
  • Participate in assessment of own learning needs and actively seek opportunities for increased competency and growth
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • IEMA Accreditation in Radiologic Technology
  • ARRT (RT) Certification or Certificate Eligible
  • Good communication skills, understanding of RIS & PACS, and ability to work under stressful situations
  • Ability to handle patient information in a confidential manner and adapt to fluctuations in patient volumes
Working Conditions

Ability to work weekends and holidays, rotating shifts, and take call with a one-hour response time. May be exposed to radiation, hazardous materials, and infectious disease.

Required to maintain current CPR certification and lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
