Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Agricultural Chemicals Specialist to join our team at Heartland Co-op. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for applying agricultural chemicals and fertilizers in a safe and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and understand label information from manufacturers and distributors of pesticides, fertilizers, and other products containing hazardous chemicals.
  • Evaluate label information to determine that directions for use are followed during application.
  • Apply products in a timely, effective, and accurate manner.
  • Follow guidelines for recording information on weather conditions, the product used, field conditions, and rates.
  • Maintain equipment to ensure safe and accurate application. Performs or ensures routine maintenance is performed.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain records to document activities.
  • During non-application seasons, perform maintenance on the warehouse, location grounds, and equipment.
  • Commercial Chemical Applicators License (1A,1B,1C) is required.
  • Maintain a valid Class C Commercial Drivers License with proper endorsements and commercial insurability at all times.
  • A valid DOT physical is also required.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
