At Michael Foods, we are seeking a highly skilled Sanitation Technician to join our team. As a key member of our operations, you will play a critical role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our products.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure the overall cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and department areas.
- Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly sanitation schedules to maintain a high level of cleanliness.
- Conduct daily pre-operational inspections to identify and address any potential issues.
- Follow established production start-up procedures to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
- Cross-train in multiple sanitation roles to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Report any equipment or mechanical problems to the maintenance team.
- Collaborate with colleagues to inspect areas and identify areas for improvement.
- Adhere to safe work practices, follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and maintain sanitary conditions to ensure product quality.
- Take initiative to follow plant goals and objectives without prompting.
- Ability to follow GMPs, proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO) guidelines.
- Reference the Company Policy Manual for guidance on sanitation procedures.
- Understand the importance of chemical handling procedures when working with chemicals such as caustics, acids, quats, bleach, and peracetic.
- Conduct effective pre-operational inspections to meet RTE standards.
- Accurately titrate chemicals as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous sanitation experience preferred but not necessary.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic math skills, including addition and subtraction.
- Ability to apply common sense and follow oral instructions.
- Capacity to work effectively in a team environment.
- Open to change and willing to adapt to new situations.
- Positive interpersonal relationships.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated and willing to ask questions when needed.
- Displays responsible behavior at work.
- Ability to safely lift up to 75 pounds on occasion.
- Work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, and humid environments.
- Ability to tolerate constant motion.
- Capable of climbing and moving above, below, and into tight spaces.
- Work in high humidity conditions and around USDA-approved cleaning solutions.
- Free from any breathing asthmatic conditions, dusty, and aromatic conditions prevail.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
