About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Vision Rehabilitation Specialist to join our team at CABVI. This role will be responsible for managing office operations and providing administrative support to our rehabilitation department.

The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills, as they will be interacting with consumers, family members, agency staff, and the public on a daily basis.

We estimate the salary for this position to be around $55,000 - $65,000 per year, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service support to the entire Rehabilitation Department.
  • Welcome visitors, notify necessary staff, and direct visitors to the appropriate waiting area.
  • Serve as ophthalmic technician during exams.
  • Complete low vision pre-evaluations, pretesting, and ancillary testing on patients.
  • Assist the low vision Optometrist.
  • Accept referrals for service and track timeliness of service delivery.
  • Send out exam appointment letters and make reminder calls.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments and make outreach calls to previously served patients.
  • Maintain current patient files and ensure referral documentation is received.
  • Process and facilitate requests for copies of medical records.
  • Purge records as needed.
  • Ensure consistent file setup and completeness.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with affiliated agencies, MD's, related agencies, community organizations, other CABVI departments, and consumers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of ophthalmology or optometry experience required.
  • Excellent listening skills and ability to effectively respond to customer service demands.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use low vision diagnostic equipment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Good manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and precision to work with optical equipment.
