Position Overview

As a new engineer at Houston Engineering, Inc., you will embark on your professional journey collaborating with experienced Professional Engineers who will offer mentorship and support across various projects. These initiatives will establish a robust groundwork for your future in civil engineering. Key projects may involve civil engineering tasks, water resource assessments, public drainage system design, and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for watersheds and river systems.
  • Assist in field investigations, including data collection and analysis to support modeling efforts.
  • Prepare floodplain and watershed studies adhering to FEMA standards.
  • Utilize GIS-based software for one-dimensional and two-dimensional flood risk modeling, including applications like HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and SWMM.
  • Support civil design projects with analyses, including the feasibility of alternative designs and compliance with regulatory specifications.
  • Draft project reports that encompass engineering calculations, planning, and technical documentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS and HEC-RAS is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of stormwater management and earthwork plans.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, including scheduling and prioritizing tasks.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Valid driver's license with the capacity for occasional travel.
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
