The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in delivering nursing services and care to assigned patients, adhering to organizational policies and relevant regulations. This position involves direct patient care, following established nursing protocols, and collaborating with healthcare team members across various settings. The RN is expected to demonstrate clinical judgment and utilize critical thinking effectively.

If selected, you will undergo Balfour Senior Living's onboarding process, which includes any necessary isolation and wellness protocols as guided by health authorities. Initial training will be conducted virtually before your first day of in-person work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Honor and respect the unique diversity of residents, including their spiritual and cultural beliefs.
  • Effectively apply the nursing process and perform skills validated by the RN Competency Checklist.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents' physical and psychological conditions, providing complete clinical nursing care, including medication administration and symptom management.
  • Report any adverse reactions to medications or treatments following company policy.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members and physicians to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and update resident care plans.
  • Engage in the care planning process and oversee the implementation of care plans.
  • Complete all required documentation in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Communicate changes in residents' conditions and diagnostic test results to physicians.
  • Educate residents and their families on health-related matters.
  • Ensure patient safety by notifying the Care Manager of any identified risk factors.
  • Guide and assist LPNs and CNAs, ensuring care aligns with established care plans.
  • Receive and relay reports from nursing staff regarding residents' conditions and care provided.
  • Manage initial evaluations and care of residents in emergency situations, including coordinating hospital transfers.
  • Participate in the Antibiotic Stewardship Program through resident assessments and adherence to established protocols.
  • Attend staff meetings, in-service training, and continuing education as required, completing online education as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid RN license in Colorado, including multi-state.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Knowledgeable in nursing and medical practices, as well as laws and regulations related to long-term care.
  • Proficient with computer applications.
  • Flexible and cooperative in fulfilling job responsibilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with residents, families, staff, and the community.
  • Respectful of confidentiality principles.
  • Successful completion of the organization's background screening.
  • Fulfillment of the organization's health screening requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least one year of experience in long-term care or acute care settings.
  • Experience with electronic medical records, particularly PCC.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and squat for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30-55 pounds unassisted.
Full use of hands, arms, and legs for various tasks.
Willingness to work beyond standard hours, including weekends and holidays.
Potential exposure to unpleasant odors, contagious diseases, and bloodborne pathogens.
