WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Support the Controller: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems, procedures, and policies to ensure compliance with company standards, GAAP, and tax regulations.
  • Financial Review: Analyze and verify the accuracy of monthly financial reports for the business unit; ensure all cash transactions are recorded accurately and investigate discrepancies.
  • Process Improvement: Drive continuous enhancements in multifamily operations by evaluating options for operational efficiency.
  • Budget Monitoring: Analyze monthly operating results against the budget, ensuring all transactions are accurately coded and collaborating with property managers to reduce errors.
  • General Ledger Oversight: Review journal entries and conduct detailed monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
  • Issue Resolution: Address accounting inquiries and provide guidance to property managers on corrective actions and process enhancements.
  • Audit Assistance: Collaborate with the Controller during year-end audits and HUD filings, preparing necessary documentation and schedules.
  • Asset Management: Maintain fixed asset depreciation software for multifamily properties.
  • Budget Preparation: Assist in the development of the annual budget for multifamily operations.
  • Discretion and Judgment: Act as a liaison between the company and external parties, ensuring the flow of critical information for business decisions.
  • Data Maintenance: Ensure historical financial data is organized and readily accessible.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Yardi is preferred.
  • Capability to build and maintain collaborative relationships.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
