ROLE OVERVIEW
The Director of Food and Nutrition is accountable for the strategic planning, organization, and oversight of the Dietary Department's operations. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while upholding our standards and policies to guarantee top-notch food service and nutritional care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Exemplify commitment to the organization's mission and ethical standards.
- Foster a professional atmosphere that promotes teamwork and cooperation among staff.
- Ensure all clients receive respectful and dignified treatment, safeguarding their rights at all times.
- Maintain residents' personal and property rights during all interactions.
- Adhere to all company policies and departmental protocols.
- Oversee inventory management and procurement of food, supplies, and equipment from approved vendors.
- Implement comprehensive inventory control measures.
- Conduct dietary assessments upon resident admission and regularly evaluate satisfaction with dietary services.
- Ensure menus are developed and served in accordance with established guidelines and physician directives.
- Assist in developing quality and quantity assessment methods for food service.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience in dietary management within healthcare settings.
- In-depth knowledge of dietary practices and relevant regulations.
- Preferred training in cost management and food service operations.
- Valid certification as required by state law (Certified Dietary Manager certification).
- Completion of an approved food safety program.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a related field is preferred.
