Position Overview:

First Merchants Bank is looking for a dedicated Junior Credit Analyst to become part of our dynamic team. This role will support the establishment and suggestion of guidelines and practices for effective management of portfolio risk, concentration oversight, credit risk evaluation, and management of special assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Regional Chief Credit Officer (RCCO) to supervise standard credit protocols, ensuring timely and precise evaluation of the commercial credit portfolio.
  • Participate as a member of designated Regional or Line of Business Special Assets Loan Committees.
  • Report significant asset quality concerns to the Regional Chief Credit Officer.
  • Prepare and analyze regional or line of business reports on commercial credit portfolio asset quality, including grading, impairment, non-accrual, and charge-off recognition.
  • Oversee and manage the delinquency status, construction loan status, borrowing base reporting, marketable security reporting, and loan covenant compliance for the region or line of business.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate concentration limits and thresholds.
  • Facilitate the timely completion of Annual Credit Reviews.
  • Assist or lead Region Watch List Committee meetings under the guidance of the RCCO.
  • Respond to audits, loan reviews, and examinations from FDIC and other internal and external bodies with RCCO approval.
  • Complete compliance training and other assigned educational programs.
  • Contribute as a member of the business management team.
  • Support the Regional Chief Credit Officer in organizing meetings, including preparing agendas and materials.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in commercial credit or a related area.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
